Pegasystems

Pegasystems has been selected as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards 2021. The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice [EOC] recognises organisations that develop workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through established policies and practices which demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

“We are thrilled to be named the Australian Business Awards’ Employer of Choice. This is a testament to the commitment of people we have at Pega, as each individual makes the organisation the incredible place it is to work, each and every day.

We pride ourselves on cultivating a familial culture centred around inclusion, diversity and respect, which doesn’t just happen by chance. It requires a lot of planning and commitment that starts with our diverse panel slates for hiring, and continues through our robust training on inclusive leadership, and various Employee Resource Groups including women@pega and pride@pega.”

Founded in 1983 by chess prodigy Alan Trefler, Pega was built to solve the most complex business problems. And today, there’s no bigger, tougher, or more urgent business problem than digital transformation. Pega provides software to help the world’s leading organisations accelerate their digital transformation by improving customer engagement and operational efficiency.

In 2020, Pega’s global workforce grew to over 6,000 employees with a team of over 150 in Australia, while maintaining a familial culture centred around inclusion, diversity, and respect. Pega’s mission is to build trust and nurture relationships through every interaction. As part of its dedication to strengthening inclusion and diversity, Pega has created diverse panel slates for hiring, mandated training on inclusive leadership, and launched various Employee Resource Groups such as Women@Pega and Pride@Pega.

As part of Pega’s culture of transparent communication and feedback, senior leaders share regular email updates with local teams to highlight weekly updates, major sales wins, project go lives, welcome new hires and farewell those departing. There are frequent company-wide and department-wide Town Halls to give employees visibility into the work being done across the company, and offer employees the opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns and share feedback.

These regular updates, meetings and town halls have continued through the pandemic, and been complemented by additional check-ins, virtual ‘water cooler’ chats and social engagements including trivia events, wellness hours, Meditation Mondays and more, to ensure team members feel connected. As a direct result of these efforts, staff engagement and feedback during the pandemic has been positive, while constant, transparent communication regarding the pandemic has aided employee anxiety around job security and allowed them to focus on their work and maintain healthy work/life balance.

Pega as a business is committed to giving back to the community. Through the pandemic, PegaCares set up an Employee Pledge Fund to support colleagues who have spouses or partners that lost their job or taken a pay cut due to the pandemic, with employees of all levels welcome to apply or pledge an amount to the fund to support others in their time of need. In 2020, Pega raised over USD1.2M to support global COVID-19 relief and racial justice, while Pega’s commitment to environmental sustainability also led to the One Tree Planted initiative, where Pega planted one tree for every team member in 2021, resulting in over 6,000 trees planted this year.
