Obela Fresh Dips & Spreads has been selected as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards 2019.

Obela is a 50-50 joint venture (JV) partnership between PepsiCo & Strauss. The JV has a mission to create a global fresh dips company. Obela operates in North America, Canada, Mexico, Western Europe, New Zealand and Australia. Obela encourages sharing though their range of fresh, tasty and better for you dips and spreads, and uses these dips to create a fresh new way of eating and connecting.

Obela manufactures three different brands: Obela, Red Rock Deli (RRD) and Copperpot. Specific to Obela, the products are available in snack size, bulk, spreading tubs and the garnished entertaining range, which are available nationally in Australia in Coles, Independent Supermarkets and Woolworths. Selected ranges of products are also available in Aldi, Costco and Coles Express.

Obela Australia employs 78 permanent employees and is continuing to grow. Obela Australia has its food manufacturing operations based in Cavan, South Australia and its Sales, Marketing and Finance team based in North Sydney, New South Wales.

The leadership team consists of five department heads in Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and Finance and are spread across both locations. By introducing Australians to great tasting products with real ingredients and interesting flavour combinations, Obela has grown their market share placing Obela as the largest dip manufacturer in Australia, and the only one supplying both Australian and New Zealand markets.

Entrant organisations are required to demonstrate their achievements across the key areas of Organisational Culture; Leadership & Strategy; Employee Education, Training & Development; Employee Health, Safety & Satisfaction; Performance Management; Recognition & Remuneration.

The Employer of Choice Framework is utilised as a structured model of assessment that enables the participating organisations to be benchmarked against world class performance standards.

The key attributes of the Employer of Choice Framework define the characteristics of high-performing, industry leading organisations that provide a stimulating and supportive workplace. The criteria and sub-criteria provide a robust set of requirements that are used as the methodology for benchmarking and learning among the participating organisations.

Entrant organisations are required to demonstrate their achievements across the key areas of Organisational Culture; Leadership & Strategy; Employee Education, Training & Development; Employee Health, Safety & Satisfaction; Performance Management; Recognition & Remuneration.
