CoAct

CoAct has been selected as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards 2019.
The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice [EOC] recognises organisations which have developed leading workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

Job Futures Ltd, trading as CoAct, is a not-for-profit community organisation, which has been working with its members (known as Service Partners) to deliver employment and employment-related services to disadvantaged Australians for over twenty years. CoAct currently has 92 staff, operating primarily from three offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth. The trading name ‘CoAct’ (i.e. Community Activation) reflects CoAct’s collaborative, community-based model.

CoAct was formed to assist the most vulnerable in our communities to successfully move out of poverty and disadvantage by developing their supports, capabilities and securing sustainable employment. Established in 1997 in response to the government’s outsourcing of employment services, CoAct believes that solutions to unemployment are best delivered at the local level by grassroots organisations (Service Partners) who know and are embedded within their community.

CoAct’s proven partnership model, called the ‘power of many’, has been in place for over 20 years. It successfully brings together all the specialist knowledge and experience of our partners into one central location to share across the network. This unique model also delivers the best of local and national qualities. Acting locally, Service Partners are employment experts who know their community, the local job market and are well-connected with local employers and supports. CoAct works alongside our Service Partners to improve services, share knowledge, provide best practice guidance and design innovative solutions for employers and customers.

Employment Services is a highly competitive industry with success dependent on gaining the right to deliver services at contract tender time (usually 3- to 5-year contracts) and then developing and maintaining the business through the acquisition of customers (job seekers) and strong business performance, along with prudent financial management.

The power of many is a powerful combination of shared expertise and focus which delivers better results for everyone. As a Company Limited by Guarantee, CoAct is owned by its member Service Partners and governed by an independent Board of Directors.
