Training and Development:

  • JumpStart – Employee development and succession program that blends technical, practical, behavioural and self-awareness training to improve how participants approach their work and leadership and develop the ability to respond to any situation instead of unconsciously reacting.
  • Jump Up – The follow-up program to JumpStart, which provides graduates with coaching skills)
  • Jump In – Another follow-up to JumpStart is undertaken when employees move into new roles.

Safety and Wellbeing:

  • SIREN – Safety Incident Report and Event Notification (SIREN). The SIREN QR reporting system is open to everyone who might see a safety-related event, allowing client managers and relevant stakeholders to instantly report a near miss, hazard or incident directly to the Star Aviation safety team.
  • ACACIA – Star’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides free and anonymous 24/7 Employee Support.

 Employee Recognition:

  • SuperSTAR – SuperSTAR is Star’s employee recognition program. Star welcomes all suppliers, customers and passengers who recognise a star employee who has gone above and beyond in their line of work for their chance to be awarded SuperSTAR of the month. At the end of the year, all 11 SuperSTAR winners go into the running to win ‘SuperSTAR of the Year’, winning an all-expenses-paid international holiday for two.
  • Service Pins—To recognise Star’s hard-working and loyal employees who have stood by the business and helped create the Star difference over their years of service, Star introduced the Service Pin Recognition Program. Star presents service pins to employees for 1 Year, 3 Years, 5 Years, and 10 Years of service as a demonstration of gratitude for employees’ meaningful contributions to Star Aviation.

Systems:

  • StarTasker – A custom Passenger Reduced Mobility (PRM) software system. StarTasker facilitates real-time resource allocation to match operational requirements accurately against airline service requests for passengers with specific needs. Star’s state-of-the-art PRM system has resulted in several benefits, including but not limited to live data collection, detailed reporting and forecast planning, performance reviews and overall cost savings.
  • AV Clean – Star’s customised platform for each client that tracks, audits and provides live updates regarding our cabin cleaning services. Star’s state-of-the-art flight allocating and cabin cleaning reporting system has resulted in several benefits (for both Star and clients alike), including but not limited to live data collection, accurate reporting, performance reviews, and overall cost savings.

As a result of Star’s dedication to its employee’s success, the business has achieved several milestones, operational efficiencies and cost savings, including but not limited to the following:

  • A dramatic improvement in the candidate’s overall hiring experience with a positive increase to the overall retention rate from 54% to 81%.
  • A reduction of associated recruitment expenses from circa $1.6 million (in 2022) to an expenditure of $12,000 (in 2023).
  • Creation of a diverse workforce with over 45 different nationalities and a female workforce of 44%.
  • A 28% reduction in employee performance matters (from implementing JumpStart).
  • Implementation of customised Star systems has seen a reduction of over 40 hours per week of admin hours for Star supervisors and 10% savings for Star’s bottom line.
  • Through the strength and commitment of Star’s people and technology, Star has expanded its operations and service offering into five new service lines, generating over $2 million per annum of revenue for the business.
