The Aurora Education Foundation (Aurora) is an Indigenous organisation that supports Indigenous students to realise their full education and employment potential – whether it is completing Year 12 or achieving a DPhil from Oxford. Aurora achieves systemic change by delivering a suite of interconnected programs that walk with Indigenous students through each stage of their educational and career development, building their resilience, identity, aspirations and sense of community. Aurora has impacted the academic and employment outcomes of over 3,000 Alumni and holds significant relationships with the Indigenous communities in which it operates.
Aurora’s vision is a society where Australia’s First Peoples determine their aspirations through education and lifelong learning. Aurora’s strategy 2023-2027 articulates how to work towards that vision, maximise the potential of Indigenous people, evolve the education system, and strengthen the pipeline of Indigenous leaders. Aurora’s policies and programs empower students, mentors and employees to thrive in their aspirations and achievements through development. As an employer, Aurora offers a unique experience to promote Indigenous excellence and leadership in a workplace that embraces cultural and psychological safety, work-life balance, and growth through a cultural lens.
Aurora’s commitment to becoming an Employer Of Choice has led to an empowering, meaningful and inclusive work experience. Currently, 80% of the Executive Team and 50% of the workforce is Indigenous. According to the 2022 Engagement Survey conducted by Bendelta, 93% of employees recommend Aurora as a great workplace, 96% believe Aurora is inclusive, and 91% feel safe.
Aurora is committed to being a great workplace and supporting team members to thrive. This positively impacts individuals, communities, institutions, and broader society.
