Adica
Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Company (Adica) has been selected as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards 2023. The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice [EOC] recognises organisations that develop workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through established policies and practices which demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.
Adica has always held firmly to the principle of putting our people first and being named an Employer of Choice really speaks to that commitment. I’m very proud of the dedication our executive leadership and HR team have shown to implementing robust, equitable processes and proactively supporting our employees and thrilled for this effort to be recognised with such a prestigious award. All our staff are part of a collective effort to maintain the positive, welcoming culture that makes Adica such a great place to work, so this recognition is also a great reflection of them and the wonderful energy they bring to work every day.
Adica Insurance is a small Australian insurance company of around 200 employees, specialising in motor vehicle insurance for the Australian market. Adica’s main business form is partnering with Toyota Finance Australia to sell insurance products through Toyota dealerships under Toyota and Lexus Insurance brands. Adica manages these insurance policies from inception to claims handling through renewal. Around 2/3 of Adica’s staff are devoted to direct customer service, with the other 1/3 supporting business operations.
As one of the smaller players in its industry, Adica understands the importance of a holistic employee value proposition (EVP), focusing on four key areas as part of its overall remuneration strategy: compensation (salary & bonus), learning & development; health & wellbeing; and environment. Adica has put a lot of work into developing a strong and supportive culture that fosters individual expression, focusing on career development and overall employee wellbeing.
Positive culture and adherence to company values are reinforced through all aspects of performance: as a 50% weighting on all performance appraisals tied to demonstration of values, as an award category in the company’s annual Excellence Awards (‘Adica Citizen’) and through company values being part of the nomination criteria in the regular reward & recognition initiatives throughout the year.
Adica is currently unveiling and rolling out a new wellbeing program that centres around four key pillars Financial, Physical, Emotional and Connection. Each pillar has benefits and initiatives that promote the overall wellbeing of Adica employees, both at work and in their home lives.
Adica’s executive leadership team is majority female, and survey results demonstrate an exceptionally high level of trust and support for Adica’s management.
Adica has recently been certified as a Family Inclusive Workplace and is embarking on a 24-month action plan to enhance its policies and practices further to be an industry-leading employer that supports its staff to grow their careers while balancing caring commitments. This is supported by a generous enhanced Parental Leave Policy implemented in 2022.
