Heritage Bank
Heritage Bank has been selected as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards 2022. The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice [EOC] recognises organisations that develop workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through established policies and practices which demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.
As one of Australia’s largest member-owned banks, Heritage Bank (Heritage) has helped strengthen communities since 1875. Its vision is “passionate about helping people”, coupled with setting the standard of exception service every time. The profits created by the bank help deliver competitive rates, exceptional services and great products to its members, not to pay dividends to investors.
Heritage is committed to making banking a force for good. At the core of this promise is the 900 team members who deliver products and services through a combination of retail branches, contact centre, broker networks and digital banking. The current digital transformation is taking the organisation from a physical bank with a digital presence, to a digital bank with a personal connection.
In 2021, Heritage posted strong half-yearly results despite the impacts of COVID, with total consolidated assets rising past the $12 billion mark for the first time to $12.184 billion as at 31 December 2021.
Culture is the engine that drives Heritage Bank’s success. It is underpinned by the key values Passion, Courage, Integrity and Respect. The Bank’s strong community focus is celebrated through the Heritage Bank Charitable Foundation, Community branches and sponsorship strategy which actively engage team members to be involved with charities and community groups.
This year saw the launch of a STEMM Pathways Program, mentoring and buddy programs to support new employees and a continued commitment to professional development, reward and recognition.
A focus of 2021, was the implementation of a meaningful, flexible hybrid work strategy, along with the embedding of a new Leadership Framework. These are building behaviours, capabilities, operating rhythms and tools to support the bank’s people and growth aspirations.
Heritage is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce which reflects the communities we service. The migrant banking program has hired new Australians to support refugees and migrants with their banking needs.
In 2021, a new multifaceted Wellness, Health and Safety Strategy was launched. It focusses on physically and psychologically wellbeing and supports team members to lead healthy, safe and enriched lives.
