Edwards Lifesciences has been recognised as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards 2017.
The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice [EOC] recognises organisations which have developed leading workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

Edwards Lifesciences (Edwards) is a global leader in the science of pericardial tissue heart valves and hemodynamic monitoring. They partner with physicians to produce innovative medical technology solutions designed to help patients live longer, healthier and more productive lives. As the dedicated global heart valve and critical care solutions provider, they deliver value through proven durability, demonstrated quality, continuous innovation and ongoing commitment to professional education and clinical support.

Edwards thrive on innovation and continually push boundaries to solve problems and advance technology to transform lives around the world. It’s a big job, that requires big thinking. When they recruit they look for candidates who are enthusiastic, talented, and creative problem solvers.

Edwards mission when it comes to the education, training and development of its employees is to provide them with valued learning opportunities to foster personal and professional growth.

Managers formally meet with their employees on three occasions each year to review performance and development. Based on these discussions and the needs of the organisation, employees are enrolled into appropriate development programs.

Edwards has in place a vast variety of education, training and development programs which are readily accessible to all staff, such programs include:

The online Edwards University which is rich in diverse content and is accessible to all staff across the globe at any time. Edwards University is designed to provide quick, easy access to professional development training and resources.  It also offers an assortment of educational content and resources to assist new employees on-board and help them assimilate with the company faster and easier by providing insight into the company leaders, products and patients.

A two-way engaging performance management system allows both employees and managers to access the online performance portal at any time and engage in performance and career conversations regularly.

Employees along with their managers, are encouraged to set up to five Performance Measurable Objectives (PMOs) and three individual development goals a year. Their PMOs are to be directly linked to achieving the Australian/New Zealand Key Operative Drivers (KOD).  KODs are directly linked to the Company’ Strategic Imperatives.

Within their online performance system, they also have six Edwards’ universal traits, applicable to all employees. Like PMOs, employees self-assess their achievement and then meet with their manager who assesses their achievement; provides and engages in two-way conversational feedback. Each trait is aligned to the individual employee’s professional level and these traits have been designed to be aligned to drive employees to be the best they can be to ensure that Edwards remain competitive and leaders in their field.

Eligible organisations from each region are invited to participate in the international chapter of the program at The World Business Awards. Conducted annually and currently in the second year of its international launch, The World Business Awards seeks to engage with the world’s business, innovation and technology leaders through a global recognition and knowledge building initiative that is underpinned by the program’s established framework. The program engages with organisations worldwide to benchmark the full spectrum of their products, services and initiatives and to review their business performance. The cycle culminates in the recognition and celebration of organisations that implement world-class business initiatives and industry leading products and services on a prominent and far-reaching scale. All entries must be entered in the regional chapter where the organisation is based.

Organisations that participate are provided with the unique opportunity to benchmark themselves against the top performers globally. The recipients are acknowledged for their achievements and recognised as the elite of their industry earning a place amongst a distinguished group by having their products, projects, initiatives, contributions and achievements recognised on a prominent and far-reaching scale. The program provides the ultimate platform for building knowledge, increasing brand awareness, equity, loyalty and retention through increased exposure, recognition and prestige.
