Edwards Lifesciences
Edwards Lifesciences has been recognised as an Employer of Choice in The Australian Business Awards 2017. The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice [EOC] recognises organisations that develop leading workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through established policies and practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.
Edwards thrive on innovation and continually push boundaries to solve problems and advance technology to transform lives around the world. It’s a big job, that requires big thinking. When they recruit they look for candidates who are enthusiastic, talented, and creative problem solvers.
Edwards mission when it comes to the education, training and development of its employees is to provide them with valued learning opportunities to foster personal and professional growth.
Managers formally meet with their employees on three occasions each year to review performance and development. Based on these discussions and the needs of the organisation, employees are enrolled into appropriate development programs.
Edwards has in place a vast variety of education, training and development programs which are readily accessible to all staff, such programs include:
The online Edwards University which is rich in diverse content and is accessible to all staff across the globe at any time. Edwards University is designed to provide quick, easy access to professional development training and resources. It also offers an assortment of educational content and resources to assist new employees on-board and help them assimilate with the company faster and easier by providing insight into the company leaders, products and patients.
A two-way engaging performance management system allows both employees and managers to access the online performance portal at any time and engage in performance and career conversations regularly.
Employees along with their managers, are encouraged to set up to five Performance Measurable Objectives (PMOs) and three individual development goals a year. Their PMOs are to be directly linked to achieving the Australian/New Zealand Key Operative Drivers (KOD). KODs are directly linked to the Company’ Strategic Imperatives.
Within their online performance system, they also have six Edwards’ universal traits, applicable to all employees. Like PMOs, employees self-assess their achievement and then meet with their manager who assesses their achievement; provides and engages in two-way conversational feedback. Each trait is aligned to the individual employee’s professional level and these traits have been designed to be aligned to drive employees to be the best they can be to ensure that Edwards remain competitive and leaders in their field.
