FIRMA has many initiations in place to ensure it is always providing employees with the support and commitment required for them to succeed. Initiatives include a mentoring program, in-house training programs, a role profile for each employee and an online employee recognition program. In addition, FIRMA’s online employee recognition program TOPPS, allows supervisors and managers to thank their employees, and encourages peers to recognise and congratulate each other. Their major Management and Leadership Development Training project has resulted in a few sub-projects including a competency dictionary and a new performance review form that identifies gaps in employee’s skills alongside a goals section and an overall summary. This form has opened the door for more communication on areas for improvement between the manager and employee.
